Tarot workshop - July

I really look forward to the monthly Tarot Workshops at the Spirit Centre.  Originally a one-off session, they've been going for five months now. Each time, we use a different spread and use it to interpret the cards intuitively.  This is the one we used last time -

I've been reading cards since I was 14, beginning with common-or-garden playing cards.  (Tarot cards were incredibly exotic -and unobtainable- for the South Wales Valleys in the early 70's! ) I've studied Tarot for most of my life and have absorbed the traditional meanings ascribed to the cards, so I'd describe myself as an experienced reader.  And I find that I learn something every time.

The approach taught (by gentle, helpful Jeff) is intuitive, using the Rider-Waite deck.  What can you see in the card?  How does it make you feel?  How are the figures in the card posed, what is in the background, what are the people doing?   I've always found random phrases popping into my head when reading cards so this approach works well for me. I'd never come across the spread we used this week, which would be useful for a client who would benefit from a counselling session. Jeff recommends using oracle cards or angel cards alongside the Tarot to help add depth and clarity to the message being given.  Just to be different, I like to use my Everyday Witch oracle cards!

The workshops are hands-on- after Jeff demonstrates how he would read a spread, we split up into couples and practice on each other.   My partner this time was very new to Tarot but gave me a couple of good insights, actually using a phrase that I'd used myself earlier that week.

I really enjoy these sessions, looking forward to the next one!
